You could do this yourself.
1. Write your posting
Read Human Covenant 1.0 and write your own: what work you want, what you need in return, what you won't do, and your answers to its permissions. Any format works. If you want our vocabulary, use context.jsonld.
2. Hash it
Canonicalize with RFC 8785, then hash. The command is on the verify page.
shasum -a 256 posting.canonical.json3. Date it in Bitcoin
pip install opentimestamps-client
ots stamp posting.jsonld
# a few hours later
ots upgrade posting.jsonld.ots
ots verify posting.jsonld.otsFree. Public calendar servers batch thousands of hashes into one transaction. After this, no one can claim you wrote it later.
4. Sign it
openssl dgst -sha256 -sign key.pem -out posting.sig posting.jsonldDo not lose the key. It is the only thing that proves you are you in twenty years.
5. Put a copy somewhere you do not control
The Internet Archive, a public repository, a friend's drive. Anywhere a reader could find it if your own copy is gone. If you want it kept forever with no way to remove it, that is your choice to make; we do not make it for you.
What you cannot do alone
The five steps above produce a statement. A statement on your own page is one opinion among billions. What an employer queries is a list.
- You cannot vouch for yourself. That a checked account paid for this, on this date, has to be attested by someone who is not you.
- Your file will not sit beside the files of others who signed the same document, in one place the ASI can query, filter, and verify in one call. That list only exists where many people post on the same terms.
What you cannot do alone is be on the list.
That is what this site is for. Posting is free for the first thousand people; after that it costs $22, once.
